Caizhen’s Shelter

Born in rural China, Caizhen worked incredibly hard to build the life she had always dreamed of. She established a successful career, travelled extensively for business, and regularly gave presentations around the country.

However, she ultimately chose to leave behind her dream career and lifestyle to help animals in need. In September 2020, she invested more than a decade's worth of savings to lease three acres of land and build a cat shelter in Zhongshan, Guangdong.

Today, the shelter provides daily care, food, and medical treatment for more than 400 cats, offering safety, stability, and a second chance to animals who would otherwise have nowhere to go.

This work is demanding, costly, and never-ending—and it relies entirely on the generosity of donors. Every contribution helps keep the shelter running and ensures these cats continue to receive the care, food, and medical attention they need.

Thank you for helping us make a difference, one life at a time. ❤️🐾

Henan Cats Shelter

Following a major rescue on May 8, 2024, when cats were saved from a meat trade truck, the shelter faced immediate challenges. During the early days, Yaya — one of our rescuers — was often the only person caring for the cats overnight. While conditions have improved since then, the shelter population continues to grow.

Uncontrolled pregnancies have led to overcrowding, which increases stress, fighting, and the spread of illness. Sterilisation is critical to managing these risks and improving the long-term wellbeing of the cats.

The shelter is currently facing three urgent needs:

  • Food: Approximately 90 pounds of food every day to feed the cats

  • Sterilisation: Ongoing funding to prevent overcrowding and suffering

  • Medical care: Treatment and medication for sick and injured cats

Volunteers help whenever possible, but the scale of care required means additional support is urgently needed. Thanks to generous donations, many cats have already been sterilised — a vital step toward creating a healthier, more sustainable shelter environment.

Wayne’s Rescue

Wayne is a dedicated independent rescuer who can often be found on the front lines, saving cats from the illegal meat trade and from dangerous locations such as the Qingyuan Reservoir.

His rescue work began in 2022 at Qingyuan Reservoir, where cats rescued from the meat trade by monks were later released into an area with no shelter or access to food. Witnessing their suffering, Wayne stepped in to provide care and safety.

Since then, he has continued rescuing cats from the Yunfu meat trade in 2023, the Qingyuan meat trade in 2024, and most recently in December 2025. Despite immense pressure and limited resources, Wayne made the difficult decision to take in more than 20 additional cats during the most recent rescue — because leaving them behind was not an option.

Today, Wayne’s small shelter is caring for over 130 cats, all rescued from severe cruelty and neglect. Ongoing donor support is essential to provide food, medical care, and a safe environment for the cats who depend on him every day.

Mr. Mo Shelter

Mr. Mo is a dedicated cat rescuer based in Guangxi, China, working under extremely challenging conditions to save cats from abuse and the illegal meat trade. He rescued 65 cats from the Ximen vegetable market in Guilin — an area widely known for ongoing cat meat trafficking.

Operating in a remote location with very limited volunteer support, Mr. Mo often works alone, sacrificing sleep to feed, clean, and care for the cats in his protection.

Despite the scale and difficulty of this work, Mr. Mo continues out of deep compassion for the animals who have no one else to help them. Ongoing donor support is essential to provide food, medical care, and safe shelter for the cats he rescues.

Do You Want to Help?

Many shelters in China face significant barriers when trying to receive donations from overseas. Internet restrictions limit access to common crowdfunding platforms, making it difficult for rescuers to connect directly with global supporters.

To overcome this, donations are collected through trusted intermediaries and secure platforms such as GoFundMe and PayPal, ensuring funds reach the shelters where they are needed most. This system allows international supporters to safely contribute to food, medical care, sterilisation, and daily shelter operations.

Your support makes this vital work possible.
